LPWAN for IoT with Satellite Backhaul
At Datellite, we are proud to collaborate with Queensland University of Technology (QUT) on a cutting-edge research project exploring how Low-Power Wide-Area Networks (LPWAN) can be integrated with satellite backhaul to deliver reliable, scalable connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT).
IoT devices are growing rapidly across industries, from agriculture and mining to healthcare and logistics. Yet many of these devices are deployed in remote or rural locations where traditional connectivity is unreliable or unavailable. Our project tackles this challenge by combining LPWAN technology, which is energy-efficient and cost-effective, with satellite backhaul, which provides global coverage.
Why It Matters
- Bridging the connectivity gap: This research aims to connect IoT devices in areas beyond the reach of terrestrial networks.
- Supporting critical industries: From monitoring crops and livestock to enabling smart supply chains, the outcomes of this project will benefit industries that rely on remote operations.
- Advancing secure IoT: With our cybersecurity expertise, we are ensuring that connectivity solutions remain secure, resilient, and compliant with emerging standards.
Technical Site Survey, Civil Works, and Satellite Link Installation – Canberra, Australia
Our team successfully delivered a satellite communications project for a diplomatic mission in Canberra. The work involved a detailed technical site survey, followed by civil works preparation and the installation of a satellite dish to enable secure international communications.
As part of the process, engineers conducted spectrum analyser checks to ensure clear frequency availability and high-quality signal reception. The project was completed with precision and strict compliance with both security and technical standards, ensuring reliable connectivity for the client’s critical communication needs.
This project demonstrates Datellite’s expertise in satellite communications, from ground preparation to final installation and signal verification, supporting high-security environments where resilience and accuracy are paramount.
Datellite is happy to share that our team will be presenting two papers at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2025 in Sydney on 2nd October
